From the opening scenes of the Kansas homestead and Dorothy’s timeless ballad “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” audiences with be transported back to early 20 th century America through the Gale family’s and farmhands’ period-appropriate work clothes.

Dorothy awakens after the storm to find that her house has dropped in a strange and colorful new land: Munchkinland in the wonderful Land of Oz. Dorothy flees with Toto to ensure his safety, but after meeting with the kind fortune teller, Professor Marvel, Dorothy returns back to the farm to find that a tornado is approaching her home.
